The application of blockchain technology in the business world has made significant progress in recent years. Originally perceived as complex and difficult to access, blockchain is now seen as a scalable, cost-effective and easy-to-use tool that offers added value to companies in a wide range of industries. Over the three years since it was set up, the Blockchain Reallabor in Hürth has become a well-established contact point for digitalization in the Rhenish mining region.

The Blockchain Reallabor, in particular its Blockchain.NRW ecosystem project, provides information about the potential applications of the blockchain technology and Web3 for companies and works with them to develop digital solutions.

Blockchain solutions implemented in the Blockchain Reallabor focus on

• Accelerating audits using traceable and tamper-proof documentation;
• More efficient management of incoming and outgoing goods through digital proofs and certificates;
• Increasing customer trust through audit-proof management of sensitive quality and IoT data;
• Increasing customer loyalty through advanced digital loyalty concepts;
• Implementing sustainability requirements through product passports and digital traceability.
  

Digitalization and autonomous processes are becoming increasingly important in companies. With its many years of expertise, the Blockchain Reallabor supports companies in optimizing their processes and business models with Web3 technologies. Easy-to-use tools are made available to optimize processes, reduce costs and develop innovative business models.

Since the Blockchain Reallabor was founded in 2021, more than 25 prototypes for industrial blockchain applications have been developed that can be tried out there. Two of the initiated projects, the Digital Cleaning Certificates and the Data Marketplace.NRW, have now received their own initial funding. In numerous individual consultations, the Blockchain Reallabor has raised awareness of the potential uses and added value of the technology in business and society. We organized around 100 communication and networking events, among them the annual Web3 Convention with over 100 participants and the international RWOT'23 Conference, which has earlier been held in San Francisco, Paris, Barcelona and further major cities. In addition, the Blockchain Reallabor launched a professional training program in 2023. It includes one-day blockchain and Web3 crash courses as well as more extensive Blockchain Professional courses.
