The WebCC team has a long term experience in collaboration projects with academia on national and international level, e.g., many courses and labs were offered at the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology (B-IT). B-IT was founded as a joined effort of the University of Bonn, RWTH Aachen University, the University of Applied Sciences Bonn Rhein-Sieg and the Fraunhofer Institute Centre Birlinghoven Castle (IZB) in 2002. Furthermore courses were taught at the Protestant University for Applied Sciences (EFH) in Bochum and at the German University of Technology in Oman.
In 2014 a collaboration project was initiated with the University of Ha'il (UoH) in Saudi Arabia. In the first year of this project the main objectives were to:
- evaluate UoH College of Computer Sciences and Engineering’s current research facilities
- carry out a full curricular audit of the College of Computer Sciences and Engineering
- explore plans for the establishment of a research laboratory
- identify research topics to conduct research projects together
Until 2018 the project aims at:
- implementation of prototypes in the HCI-Laboratory for educational purposes, e.g.,
- a user interface for the environment and activity monitoring in an office, based on the usage of IoT
- a user interface for indoor positioning based on IoT
- conductance of experiments with the created prototypes, the generated results will be summarised and published
- evaluation of the accessibility of UoH’s website with subsequent redesign
- dissemination activities, e.g., organisation of a workshop on accessibility of information systems
