eAccess+

eAccess+ established and systematically developed a cooperative platform for co-ordinating, supporting and improving the implementation of eAccessibility throughout Europe. By involving all stakeholder groups it analysed the state of the art and in particular the obstacles or missing links hindering a boarder uptake of eAccessibility. The network first identified and consulted all relevant stakeholder groups, analysed and discussed with them the state of the art, supported stakeholders in working on key issues to foster eAccessibility and disseminated experiences and knowledge all over Europe. Finally a roadmap has been developed in order to help finding appropriate future actions to support eAccessibility.

eAccess+ is driven by 25 core members, coming from all over Europe. It is their core task to involve all stakeholder groups at national level and to expand the network by a group of Associated Partners.

Out of the wide range of topics related to eAccessibility eAccess+ focused particularly on fostering the implementation of:


• Web accessibility
• 
Accessible convergent communications and accessible digital audio-visual systems

• Self-service terminals (SSTs) and devices for banking and financial services, public transport, tourism and cultural heritage, e-government

Objectives

• Expanded cooperation on the development of accessibility solutions
• Authoritative accessibility guidance on advanced web technologies
• Harmonized methodologies for evaluating accessibility of websites
• Common visions for a coordinated eAccessibility research agenda

As its core methodology and main tool eAccess+ set up a so called eAccessibility HUB  which allowed guided access to existing resources (linking, not doubling).

The project brought to the Web Compliance Center:

• Experience, networking and participation to the decision making processes through the close collaboration with stakeholders and partners
• eAccessibility collaborative knowledge coming from both academia and practitioners.
